SUMMARY:An Update on Our Non-Profit Integrated Living Opportunities (ILO)
DESCRIPTION:Please come listen to our exciting progress!\nAn Update on Our Non-Profit Integrated Living Opportunities (ILO): Where are we today? How do you get Involved? Where are we Going and ILO’s new monthly educational and social events for all ages.\nThursday July 20th\, 2017\n7:00pm-9:00pm\nTreatment and Learning Center\n2092 Gaither Road Suite 100\nRockville MD 20850 \nILO was formed over the last three years by a group of over twenty families in Washington\, DC and Montgomery County\, MD who are creating a network of support for our adult children\, whom we call “self-advocates”. We have designed the organization to help our self-advocates transition into a home of their own\, establish an active role in their community\, and create long-term connections. Our first group of self-advocates moved into apartments in a new complex in Gaithersburg MD November 2016 and the self-advocates are supported by an on-site ILO community builder. But\, this is just the beginning for us. Presently we are establishing supported communities in Bethesda and DC. Over time\, ILO will provide support to our self-advocates throughout their lives\, even after their parents are gone. \nJoin the CEO & Founder of ILO\, board members and some of the participating families to learn of our progress with creating supported communities for our family members with developmental disabilities in Gaithersburg\, Bethesda and Washington DC; who has been hired as ILO’s new employees; what it means to be part of ILO\, and how to join. \nAlso come learn how ILO is establishing monthly educational and social events for families of all ages in preparation for the day ILO will help your family member move into a supported community of their own. \nTo register please go to: https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07ee956jbpf2f29f45&oseq=&c=&ch= \nwww.ilonow.org
